Find a Harmonica Teacher

At the present time, we have two harmonica teachers in the club.

The first is Matthew Smart.  Matthew’s harmonica style is very simple: big tone, strong vibrato, sweet bends and a few riffs borrowed from the greats. Matthew has been teaching blues harmonica for 6 years in Atlanta, GA.  He teaches at his home and at the Ken Stanton Music store in Roswell, GA.   In addition to teaching, Matthew has also been a During the day, he works for ACS, a Xerox company. www.atlantaharmonicalessons.com

A testimonial from a harmonica icon! Jon Gindick www.gindick.com

"Matt Smart is an astonishingly gifted teacher/player of the harmonica.   With demonstrated expertise helping people bend, get vibrato, and just flat out play the thing.  He puts even the most anxious learners at ease.  He is also a good harp repair man. He opened up my own clogged Special 20 and made it play much better.  We are lucky to have him as a Jam Camp coach, and I highly recommend him for personal lessons.”

Doug "Joe Lee" Bush

Our other teacher, Doug "Joe Lee" Bush is a local legend in the Atlanta blues scene.  He has been playing for 60 years and has an incredible Chicago blues sound.  He was one of the few players to be mentored by the legend, Little Walter.

Here is a quote from the man himself:

"Throw off the shackles of mediocrity! If you will listen to me and do what I tell you to do with blind faith... you will be a stone cold terror with that harp before you know it. If you're bound and determined to "do it your way"..then save your money and don't waste your time or mine. (especially mine)."
